April 7th Update

Hi Everyone,
Dooly Numbers Are:

Positive Cases: 28 Positive

Total Tested Today: 6

Pending From Our Testing:  12

Total Deaths:  1

Please see the daily update at 7 pm for the latest updated numbers for the state of Georgia at the Georgia Department of Public Health. They update daily at 12 noon and 7 p.m.
Today lunch was provided by Al Willis and Michelle Beard at Country Financial from the Cree-Mee Dairy Bar in Unadilla. It was delicious and very much appreciated by myself and my staff. We truly appreciate the support and response from our community during this public health emergency.
I had a few conference calls today and we are seeing the numbers spike as we anticipated. They are now saying this could continue into the next “couple of weeks,” until we see if our efforts of sheltering in place and social distancing is working. I am really hoping after that we see some glimmer of hope and begin on the downward slide of this. I know everyone is as ready as I am to get back to ‘normal,” whatever that may be, after this is said and done. They say what doesn’t kill us makes us stronger and I believe that is the silver lining in this….WE WILL BE STRONGER.  We have definitely learned a lot in this experience and will continue to learn. We also know we have a lot of work to do when this is over to make our plans and systems work better for the future.
Friday is a state holiday but public health doesn’t take holidays off during a public health emergency.  Myself and my crew will be helping in Crisp County at their drive thru testing site on Friday. I will be there so if any Dooly County people would like to get tested they are welcome to come on that day. Remember that we test daily here at the Dooly County Health Department as well so you don’t have to wait until Friday. Just call our office at 229-268-4725 for a drive up appointment. I will verify the testing times for Crisp and update you all before Friday.
Please see the attachment for updated isolation guidelines. It was sent to me today. Remember you can print these out and hand out if needed.
As always, I am here if you need anything so please don’t hesitate to call me. I did get some rest yesterday and I have told my husband his coffee selection needed to get better because it just wasn’t doing the job. He has switched back to my favorite coffee and all is well again in my house. It truly is the little things.
Have a great evening sheltering in place with those you love. Don’t forget to call someone tonight and do a check in. We all need those mental health checks every now and then. There is nothing better than getting an unexpected call just saying someone was thinking of you.
Regards,

Cyndi Mercer, RN
